About

Brandon Kooiman

Brandon Kooiman isn’t just a Marine Corps Veteran and full-time police officer — he’s a lifelong farm kid who never outgrew his love for animals and the land. Growing up on a farm shaped who he is, and now he’s passing those same values down to his own children: hard work, respect for nature, and stewardship of the land.

Living in Southern California; one of the driest regions in the country and heavily impacted by wildfire, Brandon has seen firsthand how quickly the environment can change. In Aguanga, his family has had to evacuate multiple times a year due to wildfire threats. That reality sparked a deeper mission in him:
to use livestock to improve the land, reduce fire fuels, and restore the soil health our “golden” state once thrived on.

Through The 99 Kooiman Farm, Brandon combines traditional shepherding with modern regenerative practices. His goal is simple:
protect the land, teach his kids its true value, and help bring California back to its golden roots, one pasture at a time.

My Approach

My approach is simple: listen, observe, and create a plan that works with the land — not against it. Every property is unique, so I focus on understanding your goals, evaluating your terrain, and using livestock in a way that supports long-term soil health, weed control, and fire safety.

I combine practical experience with regenerative methods to deliver results you can actually see.
